Having traveled to Singapore many times now and having produced a few shorts on this beautiful city in Southeast Asia, this time I thought it would be fun to interview some friends to see what their take is on the place I've grown to love. Since I was not "working" while I was there, I only brought out my camera and gear while eating and hanging where the cool kids hang, I have also thrown in a few shots from previous trips. I wish there had been more time to shoot, but that would not have been fair to the folks I was there to see. I hope you enjoy it! https://www.expedia.com/Singapore.d180027.Destination-Travel-Guides Small and heavily populated, Singapore is an easy place to explore; nothing in the city is more than an hour from the business district. Thanks to modern construction and outstanding architecture, Singapore is rapidly becoming a powerhouse trade city, but it maintains ties to its Asian roots through traditional temples and many cultural hotspots, like Little India and Kampong Glam. Your Singapore tour must include the Botanical Gardens and Orchid Gardens, both beautiful and notable places to visit. If you’re a fan of exotic animals, stop by the Singapore Zoo and check in with its 300-plus species that take up residence there. You can also take a “bumboat” from Changi Beach to Pulau Ubin, set away from the bustling city,...

PLAN YOUR SINGAPORE VACATION The main island of Singapore is shaped like a flattened diamond, 42 km (26 miles) east to west and 23 km (14 miles) north to south. Near the northern peak is the causeway leading to West Malaysia—Kuala Lumpur is less than four hours away by car. It is at the southern foot where you will find most of the city-state’s action, with its gleaming office towers, working docks, and futuristic "supertrees," which are solar-powered and serve as vertical gardens. Offshore are Sentosa and over 60 smaller islands, most uninhabited, that serve as bases for oil refining or as playgrounds and beach escapes from the city. To the east is Changi International Airport, connected to the city by metro, bus, and a tree-lined parkway. Of the island's total land area, more than half ...

Travel video about destination Singapore. Singapore is a city of gardens and the heart of South East Asia. Its history began in 1819 with Thomas Stamford Raffles, a young official who worked for the British East India Company. Raffles estimated that the natural harbor was perfect for trading ships, so he bought the land from the Sultan of Johor and founded a trading settlement. As a free port, Singapore attracted trading ships from all over the world and today, 4 million people live here on an area that covers 640 square kilometres. In June each year, there is an exciting boat race in Marina Bay known as the Dragon Boat Race, that features magnificently painted dragon boats with hand-carved heads and tails accompanied by the sound of frenetic drumbeats. Dating back to colonial times, Br...
Book your travel activities at http://www.viator.com/singapore Singapore has traded in its rough-and-ready opium dens for towers of glass, and its steamy rickshaw image for hi-tech wizardry, but you can still recapture the colonial era with a gin sling under the languorous ceiling fans at Raffles Hotel. At first glance Singapore appears shockingly modern, but this is an undeniably Asian city with Chinese, Malay and Indian traditions. It's these contrasts that bring the city to life. I Paid Double For a Fast Pass & I Still Had To Que For The Same Amount Of Time Like Everyone Else, This Happened On The 2 Big Rollercoasters! The 'Simple Life' concept is pretty straightforward, I dreamed of time away from everyday life with the never ending list of jobs, working full time as a nurse doing long hours and crazy shifts and instead cut out the stress and live a simple life.....even if it is just temporary! So I have taken a career break for a year and hit Southeast Asia, a place I have always dreamed of travelling.

By 2016, more than 14% of Singapore's population will be over the age of 65 and with a birthrate of just 1.19%, there is an urgent need to create a new social system to cope with this aging society. Both government schemes and private sector investment are being put into place to create new opportunities for the elderly. On this episode of Asia Insight, we take a look at how Singapore is challenging its aging society.
As an award winning photo journalist Bob Lee has an eye for subtlety, emotion and beauty, but the real source of Bob’s genius is his big heart. Four years ago Bob left his prestigious job to look after his son who suffers from autism. And the (faithful) slaves of the Most Gracious (Allâh) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness. (Al Quran 25:63) So, if ignorant people try to pick a fight with you, argue with you (without actually wanting to learn), say salaam and leave it at that. You don't have to argue and fight with them. If someone actually wants to learn about Islam, we are more than happy to help them out In Sha Allah. But if they just want to pick a fight, we say salaam and leave. We don't drag ourselves down to their level.
The Centre for Ageing Research and Education, CARE, is a newly launched initiative borne out of the Dean’s Office at Duke-NUS to create a center focusing on the intersection between social, medical and clinical aspects of aging. The Center will develop, coordinate, and implement research and education initiatives in ageing and health. Through this work, the Center will provide thought leadership in Singapore and internationally. The Center’s research agenda will complement the emerging research being developed on the study of age-related physiological and clinical phenomena. CARE will consider how accounting for social dimensions can contribute to successful aging, in particular, to achieve more years of health in tandem with longevity. The distinctive role of CARE is to facilitate multidi...
